About

I am Welsh by birth, from Llandudno, North Wales  but a long time resident of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, U.K. I have always had a strong affinity with nature and particularly animals in their natural environment.

My early introduction to photography involved film cameras and mainly black & white photography. Prints were not cheap and so the shutter was depressed sparingly.

With the advent of digital cameras and the vast improvement in technology, I am now able to “shoot at will” and have travelled to fascinating locations outside the U.K. for wildlife pictures including:

Botswana
Finland
Iceland
Italy
Namibia
Norway
South Africa
Tanzania
USA
Zimbabwe

I have had the benefit of guidance and tuition from some of the best wildlife photographers which has included not only the technical aspects of photography but also the fieldcraft to locate and get close to the subjects without disturbing them. [Some are included on my Links page]

I am indebted to them all for their patience, friendship and advice.

One of the most useful tips I have received remains “enjoy yourself” and for me, the pleasure comes from seeing and capturing a sometimes fleeting moment of animal behaviour – a rare species or situation – and being able to return to the image and relive it at a later date.
